We’re honored to announce that Isha Uppalapati, founder of A Girl’s Frontier, has been named the winner of a Bronze Stevie® Award in the “Book of the Year” category in the 17th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business. Isha’s landmark book, Her Toolbox: Learning to Be a Female Leader with Advice from Women in Power incorporates the best advice from seven accomplished, professional women, and strives to provide girls with a blueprint for overcoming obstacles, prioritizing personal development, and making their way in a world that desperately needs them to succeed.
The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives, entrepreneurs, employees, and the companies they run– worldwide. The Stevie Awards have been hailed as the world’s premier business awards. Judges in the “Book of the Year” category described the Her Toolbox book: “As an excellent resource for young girls who need support and guidance to reach their goals, especially the chapters on Overcoming Adversity and Discipline, which are important areas to overcome. Isha Uppalapati has demonstrated true leadership by authoring a book to help young girls succeed in life.”
Judges went on to offer additional support of the book’s motivations, stating, “How inspiring for so many girls and young women to get sound leadership advice in a book written from the perspective of someone similar in age! Her Toolbox is clear and concise and addresses important topics and foundational principles (e.g., learning to fail) that every girl and women should learn in high school and college… What makes this unique is its full-scale commitment to providing solid, comprehensive tools to the end user. From pulling together the ideas to helping these young people succeed in executing them, this really helps to provide a soup-to-nuts approach that reaches beyond the book.”
More than 1,500 entries were submitted this year for consideration in more than 100 categories, including Executive of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Company of the Year, Startup of the Year, Women Helping Women, and Women Run Workplace of the Year.
